“We’ll keep a welcome in the hillsides, We’ll keep a welcome in the Vales.
This land you knew will still be singing, When you come home again to Wales.”
“Far away a voice is calling
Bells of memory chime
Come home again, come home again
They call through the oceans of time
We’ll keep a welcome in the hillsides,
We’ll keep a welcome in the Vales.
This land you knew will still be singing,
When you come home again to Wales.
This land of song will keep a welcome,
And with a love that never fails.
We’ll kiss away each hour of hiraeth,
When you come home again to Wales.
We’ll kiss away each hour of hiraeth
When you come home again to Wales.”
Hiraeth: (especially in the context of Wales or Welsh culture) deep longing for something, especially one’s home. Yearning, Nostalgia, Wistfulness.
You do have a beautiful country…
Thank you very much and apologies for the delay in replying.
No rush. That’s one of the things I like about blogging. A sense of freedom fueled by “no rush”. One loses contact for a while then hooks up again… All the time in the world…
All well with you I hope?
What a lovely way of looking at life. Thank you.
Thank YOU. 🙏
My Dad went to school in Caernarfon lovely photos
Thank you so much. So sorry I missed this one, Charlotte. Glad you like the photos. Caernarfon is one of my most favourite places.
We used to go on day trips regularly when I was little. Good memories. Happy Easter
Taking my breath away….
What a lovely thing to say. Thank you, Amy.
Gorgeous photos, dear Izzy, and thank you for bringing back so many beautiful memories. Bless you 💕
Thank you, Francina. So lovely to hear from you. Hope you are keeping well and safe. Blessings of peace for you, my dear friend. 💙💜
Absolutely stunning images! You show Wales off in a very good light. I have to admit not knowing much about the place, there doesn’t seem to be many trees. Some parts of Tasmania look quite similar. Lovely post 😀
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Yes, there are a lot of mountains and lakes and open landscapes here in North Wales, which I love. But I’m also a nemophilist [a lover of trees and forests]. See https://walesforever.cymru/2019/05/28/are-you-a-nemophilist/
There are also millions of trees now being planted, with regards to climate change, so Wales may well look completely different in years to come.
I’m going to pop over to your site now, as I know very little about Tasmania. Looking forward to continuing our connection. Very best wishes.
Thanks for the link – and the new word – turns out I’m a proud nemophilist too!! You have lovely forests with many old trees by the look of it, glad to hear more trees are being planted, it looks like there’s plenty of room for them 🙂 Thanks for visiting my site 😀
Glad you enjoyed the post and good to meet another nemophilist. I very much enjoyed my visit to your site and will be dropping in again soon.
I got curious and had a look at Wales on Google maps, now I know exactly were it is and It’s bigger than Tasmania! I look forward to learning more about your pretty part of the planet 🙂
Likewise. All I know about Tasmania is little I learned in school many moons ago.
I’m surprised Tasmania even got a mention! I’m chuffed 😀 I learnt last night while comparing Tasmania’s size to Wales, that Tasmania is “the 26th-largest island in the world” – according to Google maps 🙂
Interesting. I liked geography in school but the only thing I remember is that it looked very small on the map, and the capital is Hobart.
lol, at least you know where it is 🙂 I live in South Hobart, on the foothills of Mt Wellington. Hopefully I can show and teach you a little more about this little island at the bottom of the world 😀 It’s a pleasure to virtually meet you.
That’s very mice of you. Thank you.
Awesome photos Izzy! Such a beautiful country
Thank you, Eddie, for your lovely message.
You’re very welcome
Your love of place comes shining through in these beautiful images!
Thank you so much for your kind support, which is very much appreciated.
Splendid!

Thank you very much, Graham.
Awesome landscape pictures!
Thank you, Alexander. Glad you like them.
These are magnificent pictures, Elisabeth.
I wish I was there! 🤩😊
Thank you, Hanna. That’s nice of you.
Everything is picturesque, fields, sky, trees. I look at these photos as accomplished artworks. Sharing love your place is a very meaningful thing.
Thank you so much. That is a lovely thing to say. Bless you.
Absolutely gorgeous pictures, Isabella! And fantastic videos with some of my favorite singers. Coincidentally, I have just been airing a disc by Bryn Terfel singing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Stirring stuff! I always loved listening to Shirley Bassey. What a voice! And Harry Secombe in The Goon Show was on the radio every Sunday in our house when I was growing up. Thank you so much for sharing these.
Thank you. Sue. I’m so glad you enjoyed the videos as well as the photos. I think the Morman Tabernacle Choir are amazing. And Bryn Terfel has a wonderful voice. I’ve just checked on Youtube and they are singing together from an album called Homeward Bound. Is that the one you refer to?
Yes!
Brilliant!. I’ve just found it on Amazon and ordered it. Really looking forward to that. Thanks, Sue.
Thank you, Ernst, for your lovely message. Snowdonia National Park is indeed very beautiful. Many blessings wished for you.
Your pictures always have the “I would like to be there” feeling about them. Partly the content and partly the quality.
What a lovely thing to say. Thank you, Ronnie.
Such a beautiful country you live in.
Alison
Thank you very much, Alison. When I was younger I always wanted to live somewhere else. It was only when I started to look at life through a lens in 2012 that I began to see the beauty around me. Now I truly love my homeland.
I am so glad that you are going back in your archives, Izzy. What I remember most about Wales is the clear air, a feeling of homecoming. Sending hugs!
Thank you, Rebecca. Blessings of peace from my heart to yours.
Well that’s very nice of you to say so.
Wow. You got some beautiful skies to go with the beautiful landscapes.
Thank you, Timothy. Skies are one of my favourite things. I’m always looking up!
It looks like you get some great skies, too. I’m often tripping on things from looking at the sky and looking for birds.
Me, too!
Blissful photos, Izzy.
Thank you, Tish. I’m raiding the archives lately.
Well, very well raided!
